Reasons to Consider Renting Your Access Equipment

If your construction company uses access equipment, you might find it difficult to purchase it due to the cost and some of the other inconveniences involved. Access equipment includes equipment like boom and scissor lifts, cherry pickers, and work platforms. These items are likely not used as much as other types of construction equipment, giving you a reason to consider renting instead of buying. Here are some more reasons to consider renting your access equipment.

You Don't Have Proper Storage

Think about the type of storage you have for your construction equipment and tools and whether or not there is enough space for access equipment. As compared to other types of equipment, access equipment tends to be larger and bulkier. This makes it hard to find proper storage. You might need to rent an equipment storage unit nearby in order to store it any time you are not using it. If you don't want to find storage for it, renting it can keep you from ever having to worry about it.

The Equipment is Delivered

Even if you do find storage for the access equipment, you then need to figure out how to transport it between each construction site. This is another major inconvenience of owning it yourself. If you were to hire the access equipment instead, the company would most likely offer delivery services so that it is delivered right to the construction site. When you're finished using it, you can call them up and have it picked up.

You Don't Want to Perform Maintenance

When you own the access equipment, you need to practice upkeep on the equipment. This is necessary in order to keep it running smoothly and to avoid more extensive repairs. However, if you don't have the time and resources for the routine maintenance, you might want to think about hiring the access equipment. The rental company will then be responsible for all maintenance and always deliver equipment that is in good working condition. If a repair is needed while you are using it, you should not be responsible for it, since their insurance helps to cover it.

The Rental Company Has New Equipment

Another thing to think about when comparing new and used equipment is upgrading the equipment over time. Rental companies tend to be good at upgrading their equipment so that when you rent a lift or platform, it is a newer type of equipment. When you buy the equipment, it can be expensive always having to upgrade to the newest equipment.
